schrofer sketches
Jurriaan Schrofer was a key figure in graphic design after the Second World War. His expertise ranged from public relations materials to typography, from magazines to advertising. In the 1970s, Schrofer expanded into spatial design and became deeply involved in government art policy and environmental art. He was a boundary-pusher, experimenting with spatial depth on flat surfaces and delving into typography and symbols in anticipation of future computer capabilities.
This website presents typographic works from the book "Schrofer Sketches". It presents an interpretation of the analogue forms and rhythms Schrofer created. The result is a collection of different typefaces that capture the different styles and types found in the book. The shapes are created using a simple grid, which played an important role in Schrofer's work.
